Map Components

Sometimes you may want to insert maps on your Web pages. This could be a map to your company, different offices of the business, or to any specific destination.

To insert a Map Component

Place the cursor on a web page where you want to include a map.

You must first go to the www.mapquest.com  web site and register yourself. To register yourself:

Select Site > Insert Components in the program menu. From the Insert Component dialog box, click the Pull down menu and select Maps from Mapquest.com. Select Maps from Mapquest.com and click Insert.

The browser will open and go to the Mapquest registration screens.

Fill out all the required information and click Signup.

You will be confirmed as a registered user and the browser will display the information page that describes how to insert maps on your web pages. Read or print the directions and close the browser window.

WebShop XL will insert the map link at the cursor location on the web page. Select the link text, and then select Insert > Link à. The Link dialog box is displayed.

Click the External tab. Click inside the URL edit field which displays part of a link.

Place the cursor at the end of this text link and add the address of the location you want to display the map for. You may specify different types of map locations, i.e. City name, exact street address.

For example, to display the map for the following location:

Street address: 90 Concord Ave.
City or Town: Belmont
State: Massachusetts (which is abbreviated as MA).

Enter the following text at the end of the URL edit field.

&city=Belmont&state=MA&streetaddress=90+concord+ave

If you want to use a different text for the link, enter the text you want in the Link text input field of the Link dialog box. Click on Replace Link button.

When visitors visit your site, view this page and click on the map link text, a new browser window will open and will display the map for the address you have entered for this link. The visitor may print the map, Zoom in, Zoom out and perform other map related functions.
